MaryMargaret is known for shooting the truth in a positive light. Documentary style has always had her heart, but growing up in the deep south, she recognizes the need for formality in photographs.  Her ability to compose as well as her technical knowledge makes her images instantly iconic. 

 A second generation photographer, MaryMargaret seemed to possess the "gift of seeing" at a very young age.  

"My mom was the head photographer for a huge music festival, in order to keep up with her kids, she would put cameras around our necks so the security guards knew we were ok to be backstage.  I was only encouraged by her to crawl onstage and use her film if I saw a shot....within the first three songs of course-because those were the rules, and people respected what the musicians wanted then."-MaryMargaret

Her early introduction to rock photography proved to be one of many career stepping stones.  She has had the privilege of shooting artists like John Legend, Dave Mathews, Snoop Dogg, Koool Kojack, Eliot Morris, Tift Merrit, Black Jacket Symphony, Moses Mayfield, and I-Nine.  One of her biggest honors was being allowed to document what proved to be one of the more life changing years Matisyahu had during his making of an album, "SparkSeeker", and his reevaluating his faith, ultimately deciding to leave the Chassidic Faith.  MaryMargaret was trusted to photograph the first press shot that was released of Matisyahu without his beard.  

In her twenties, MaryMargaret traveled extensively the Mason-Dixon line (with the Missouri compromise of course) as a staff travel photographer for the magazine, "Southern Living" for 7 years, covering shops, hotels, restaurants...basically anything a person would do on vacation.  She also found a love for shooting portraits of people who were passionate about their lives when she photographed for the Livings section. She feels comfortable shooting in any situation, because she has. 

Food photography has also kept MaryMargaret's interest.  She has been the head photographer on the award winning cookbook "Seasoned to taste" produced by the junior league of Chattanooga, TN.  MaryMargaret photographed cocktail and bottle shots for B  

MaryMargaret attended Rocky Mountain School of Photography in Missoula, MT after getting her Bachelor's at Presbyterian College in Clinton, SC.

MaryMargaret began shooting Weddings and children naturally as her friends started getting married and having children, and they only wanted her style for their personal photography.  She made the switch to freelance photographer and opened MaryMargaret Chambliss Photography in 2009.  Because of her versatility-she finds herself shooting rock stars one day, food the next, and children the next.

MaryMargaret is a married to Jason, who she met through the music industry-- they have two children and currently lives in Birmingham, Al.
